    XUNANTUNICH
It is located across from San Jose Succotz, a few miles from the western border.
The partially-excavated and largest pyramid, El Castillo, rises 130 feet above the
main plaza and offers an impressive Panoramic View of the Belize's Cayo District
and nearby Guatemala.   El Castillo, is known for its frieze, a banded stucco
decoration which at one time extended around the entire pyramid.   Impressive
museum displays a three-dimensional model of the entire Xunantunich site, as
well as depicting the evolution of Maya civilization. Three stelae from the site are
    on display.

    TIKAL
Have the front desk arrange an unforgettable trip to Tikal.  The tour leaves
Ambergris Caye at 7 a.m. and return 5:40 pm and is done through Tropic Air -
daily.  The day trip includes 45 min. flight from Belize to Flores and 45 min. road
trip to Tikal.  The day trip Package includes lunch and entrance fee.
Tikal - Greatest of all Classic Mayan Cities!  Parque Nacional Tikal is located in
Guatemala, about 50 miles northwest of it's border with Belize. In this remote
area, one of the greatest civilizations of it's time established a city that endured
for centuries.    Set in the jungle canopy, the site today consists of over 3,000
buildings, including a handful of impressively tall temples that tower above the
forest. At its peak some 1,500 years ago, Tikal was home to an estimated
100,000 Mayans.  As is the case with all Mayan sites, the origins of Tikal are only
barely discernible.  Findings of pottery dating from a few hundred years before
Christ give evidence that Tikal was inhabited then. By the time of Christ, the
Great Plaza had already taken its basic form, with platforms and stairways on the
north side.    Tikal is a place for wondering, not only at the engineering
accomplishments of the Maya, but at the jungle splendors of the Peten region in
Guatemala. The site of Tikal is a national park  where the native flora and fauna
still flourish relatively undisturbed.  In addition to it's numerous well-excavated
temples and pyramids, Tikal presents an excellent opportunity for animal- and
bird-watching. Along the paths, spider and howler monkeys, gray foxes and red
coatis are visible to the visitor.  Today, one can sit atop a pyramid, gaze at the
Great Plaza and roof combs rising up from the sea of jungle and imagine the
times more than a thousand years ago when the plaza was alive with activity and
the city was surround by cultivated fields dotted with houses.  But one can do
little more than imagine....  there is no coherent history of Tikal and there may
never be one. Bits and pieces of information are picked up from drawings on
pottery and bone, finding tools, similarities in artistic styles between Tikal and
other Mayan and Non-Mayan centers, and the few glyphs that have been
deciphered up to now.  The combination of archaeological remains and the
natural environment of the Petén, makes Tikal the only place in the world which
has been declared both a Natural and World Cultural Heritage site

    CARACOL
Caracol is the most extensive Maya site known in Belize ....
Caracol, a Classic Period complex, covers 30-square miles of thick, high-canopy
jungle, and includes five plazas, an astronomic observatory and over 35,000
buildings which have been identified. The loftiest among them, a massive
pyramid (Caana) which is capped by three temples and rises over 140 feet
above  the jungle floor. Caracol's central core today, as seen by visitors, consists
of three plaza groups surrounding a central acropolis and two ball courts, along
with a number of smaller structures.  A new visitor center exhibits a number of
photographs and diagrams of the site, along with artifacts, including a recovered
    ceremonial altar.

    IX CHEL FARM
Located at the foot of the Maya Mountains and named after the goddess of
medicine, Ix Chel Farm seeks to preserve traditional knowledge of medicinal
plants in Belize. The farm was founded in 1988 by Drs. Rosita Arvigo and
Gregory Shropshire, who hoped to share the teachings of legendary healer Don
Elijio Panti.  At the farm, "Rain forest Remedies," a profit-sharing company
comprised of traditional healers, herb gatherers, laborers and employees
produces a wide range of traditional medicines. Their colorful names range from
"Belly Be Good" for chronic gas pains, to "Jungle Salve" for insect bites, to
"Sweet Blood" for the treatment of diabetes and everything in between.

    TANAH MAYAN ART MUSEUM
Located in the Yucateca Mayan Village of San Antonio, located on the Cristo Rey
Road there is a humble limestone and clay building with a simple palm thatch leaf
roof known as the Tanah Art Museum.   On display in the museum are
magnificent slate stone carvings of an ancient Caracol ruler, a famous Palenque
elder, a Xunantunich warrior, a Maya ceremonial table for offerings of
thanksgiving, and a replica of the Sun God Kunich Ahua from Altun Ha, to name
    just a few.

    CAVING OR CAVE TUBING
A thrilling experience awaits those who take this tour!  First, a boat will take you
to Belize City where you will take a short bus ride to the jungles of Belize.  As you
walk through the jungle, your guide will teach you about the native flora and
fauna.  You will then hop into your own personal inner tube, strap on a headlight
and take a  relaxing ride down-steam where you will view Belize's massive
underground cave system.  Your headlight will illuminate the spectacular caves
and fantastic stalactites and stalagmites.  After this refreshing ride in cool, clear
waters, you will enjoy lunch before heading to the Belize Zoo.  Here you will see
many of the native animals of Belize in natural style enclosures which will include

cables and platforms suspended above the rain forest and you slide from one
platform to another via harness and pulley.  There are 6 to 7 stations each with
